GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 378468
Button mouseover effect prevents clicking of button
Last modified: 2006-11-25 01:20:35 UTC
Please describe the problem: Placing the mouse over a disabled button, which then is made enabled as a result of another action or process completing prevents the button from being clicked until the mouse is moved off the button and back onto it. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open "Computer" from the "Places" menu 2. Place the mouse over the "Refresh" button on the top toolbar 3. Press F5 on the keyboard to manually refresh the contents of the window (do not move the mouse at all) 4. Click on the Refresh button on the top toolbar (without moving the mouse) Actual results: Steps 1-3 work as expected. Step 4 does nothing - it does not refresh the contents of the window. In order to work around this, the mouse has to be moved off the button and back over it again in order to be able to click on it again. Expected results: Clicking on the Refresh button in step 4 should refresh the contents of the window Does this happen every time? Yes. In all Gnome programs as far as I can tell. Other information: Ubuntu Edgy with all latest updates as of 2006-11-23 Default Ubuntu Edgy theme. Same behaviour is experienced in the "Update Manager", holding the mouse over the "Check" or "Install Updates" buttons while the software is "Staring Update Manager" (for example).
This sounds exactly like Gtk Bug 56070: Can't click button after setting it sensitive. Duplicate?
Yeah, looks like it; definitely isn't a metacity bug anyway. Thanks for the catch, Martin. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 56070 ***
