Description Germán Poo-Caamaño 2006-11-15 14:47:16 UTC
There is a nice feature that other DVI viewers have, this is inverse search.

inverse-search allows the user point-and-click in a special part of the text
and give a singal to an editor to load the file in such line/page.

Quite useful when a LaTeX file is being editing.

xdvi has support for inverse-search which es explained (from the user point of
view) in http://xdvi.sourceforge.net/inverse-search.html

This can be supported only if the source file uses the package srcltx
(http://tug.ctan.org/info?id=srcltx) which provide a \special insertion
into the DVI file to allow to jump into TeX source file.
Comment 1 Germán Poo-Caamaño 2006-11-15 15:03:10 UTC
Reading the documentation of srcltx, it said is also is supported by kdvi (KDE >= 3.0)
Comment 2 José Aliste 2010-11-09 13:25:52 UTC
Germán, I am closing this as WONTFIX since there is already synctex support in evince, which is another method to support inverse and forward search in pdf and dvi LaTeX files.
