Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance! please install gtk+ and nautilus packages.

Could somebody of the developers please install some debugging packages [1] and reproduce the crash, if possible? Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the "details", now containing way more information. Please copy that stacktrace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks in advance! Hello, I wanted to install the debug packages, but I think I wasn't successfully... But now I think know when the bug is happening: * go are in any directory * you change the the list view (hope that's the english name) -> the Menueitems in the right-click dialog of the are all disabled (gray) * when you close nautilus and open it again it crashs! It's happening always in the same directories * , so it's realtifly easy to produce him * the crash doesn't happen always (but often) in this directories - but the becoming gray does! * it could maybe have something to do with the filenames or the folder-structure??? Too much output, ignoring rest... -------------------------------------------------- Memory status: size: 261980160 vsize: 0 resident: 261980160 share: 0 rss: 72163328 rss_rlim: 0 CPU usage: start_time: 1166619211 rtime: 0 utime: 10292 stime: 0 cutime:8934 cstime: 0 timeout: 1358 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 2 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/nautilus' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/i686/nosegneg/libthread_db.so.1". hi michael, thanks for the feedback! what does "unsuccessful" mean? any errors? or is http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/DistroSpecificInstructions not helpful enough (comments and criticism always welcome)? now that you know who to trigger this crash, it would be really great to have debug packages of nautilus, glib, gtk, gnome-vfs and libgnome(ui), so one can see exactly where this crashes...
hi Andre, My problem is: which names does these debug packages? I enabled the debug repos of yum and just installed all the packages which have 'nautilus' in their name or in there description - but there were no package named 'nautilus-debug' or similar. Michi
hi michael, assuming that you're running fedora on an i386 computer, this should be http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/debug/nautilus-debuginfo-2.16.0-5.fc6.i386.rpm http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/debug/glib2-debuginfo-2.12.3-2.fc6.i386.rpm http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/debug/gtk2-debuginfo-2.10.4-4.fc6.i386.rpm http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/debug/gnome-vfs2-debuginfo-2.16.0-4.fc6.i386.rpm http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/debug/libgnome-debuginfo-2.16.0-4.fc6.i386.rpm http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/debug/libgnomeui-debuginfo-2.16.0-4.fc6.i386.rpm thanks in advance for helping! :-)

I can see more information for the glib library, but it looks like the debug information for nautilus was not installed or not installed correctly. Can you please double check whether a nautiuls debugging package is installed?

michael: no need to erase (or even reinstall) packages, that will most likely not change anything. :-/ so nautilus-debuginfo, glib2-debuginfo, gtk2-debuginfo are all installed? strange...

Michael Schönitzer (re comment 30): Maybe you could duplicate one of the affected directories, and try to remove some of the contained files, until the issue doesn't occur anymore. Then we may be able to find out whether it has anything to do with the directory structure. Does it work without any flaws for other directories?
