Description Joanmarie Diggs (IRC: joanie) 2006-11-09 14:32:10 UTC
Bug #363827 is an RFE for Orca to provide access to the style and font name in OOo Writer. While this information is important, there are many more text attributes that a sighted user can obtain by glancing at the screen. Orca currently does not provide access to these attributes.

Attributes which would be helpful to have access to via Orca include:

* What I would consider a style (e.g. heading 1, text body, List). Note that this is different from what is currently labeled as a style and provided via at-spi, namely "italic" or "normal". The style information being requested is what is displayed in the combo box that is just to the left of the Font Name combo box on Writer's Formatting toolbar.

* The bulk of the items in the Character dialog (Format menu... Character):
  * Color (foreground and background)
  * Highlighting
  * Position (superscript, subscript, normal)
  * Scale width
  * Spacing (expanded, collapsed, normal)
  * Relief
  * Rotation
  * Outline, Shadow, Blinking

Thanks Joanie. I've filed OOo issue #71385 on this and adjusted the summary
of this bug to reflect that we are currently blocked.

http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=71385

Note that the "style" attribute problem is covered in OOo issue #71383
(Orca bug #363827).

As I indicated here: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363827#c9, OOo 2.2 now exposes this info.

Mike, as mentioned by Joanie, in comment #9 of bug #363827:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363827#c9

which of these text attributes now exposed in OOo v2.2 would you like
automatically spoken by the Orca OOo script when the user does Insert-F?

default attributes: line-height:100%; paragraph-style:Default;
justification:left; pixels-below-lines:0; pixels-above-lines:0; indent:0;
right-margin:0; left-margin:0; vertical-align:baseline; writing-mode:lr-tb;
text-shadow:none; text-rotation:0; text-decoration:none; font-effect:none;
stretch:normal; direction:ltr; language:en-us; scale:1; style:normal;
variant:normal; family-name:Nimbus Roman No9 L; weight:400; size:12;
strikethrough:false; underline:none; invisible:false; fg-color:0,0,0;
bg-color:255,255,255

It looks like Feisty's going with OOo 2.2 after all. Not sure if that means we want to revisit this now or wait until post-CSUN....

You know, with the new app-specific dialog and RFE 376515, I'm not sure if anything else needs to be done to this particular RFE. Thoughts?

Since we're no longer blocked on this effective OOo 2.2, I'm changing the status from blocked to pending.
