GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 362298
crash in Epiphany Web Bookmarks: I selected the 'All' top...
Last modified: 2006-10-15 17:28:00 UTC
Version: 2.16.1 What were you doing when the application crashed? I selected the 'All' topic in the left pane, and used shift to select all of my bookmarks in the right pane (which I had copied from a Dapper install). Then I selected 'Delete' Distribution: Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) Gnome Release: 2.16.1 2006-10-02 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.16.0 Memory status: size: 147513344 vsize: 0 resident: 147513344 share: 0 rss: 48517120 rss_rlim: 0 CPU usage: start_time: 1160890871 rtime: 0 utime: 3251 stime: 0 cutime:3099 cstime: 0 timeout: 152 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 0 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/epiphany' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". After deleting bookmarks.rdf and ephy-bookmarks.xml from ~/.gnome/epiphany/ and re-importing them from Firefox, I have no more issues with deleting. It would appear Epiphany is not handling bookmarks from previous versions correctly?
Hmm, can you please confirm with 100% confidence that? Problems with deleting more than 1 bookmark are known. It's a very annoying bug. Try deleting all your bookmarks again and/or deleting chunks of them (3 or 5 in a go).
Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, that stack trace is not very useful in determining the cause of the crash. Can you get us one with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so.
Ahh Diego, you are right. I was too hasty. If I select enough bookmarks it will indeed still crash. Baptiste: I did my best to get debug symbols for as many of the libraries as I could. Unfortunately, there was a package conflict for the libnspr symbols... The version installed for firefox was clashing for some reason. But hopefully I got you enough. Its rather long, and attached. The problem is very random: this last time I was trying to reproduce it I managed to delete 35 or so of my bookmarks in bunches before it finally crashed.
