GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 362168
crash in Evolution: Trying to receive mail.
Last modified: 2006-12-29 18:15:52 UTC
What were you doing when the application crashed? Trying to receive mail. Distribution: Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) Gnome Release: 2.16.1 2006-10-02 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.16.0 Memory status: size: 170082304 vsize: 0 resident: 170082304 share: 0 rss: 27410432 rss_rlim: 0 CPU usage: start_time: 1160841060 rtime: 0 utime: 286 stime: 0 cutime:263 cstime: 0 timeout: 23 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 0 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/evolution-2.8' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, that stack trace is not very useful in determining the cause of the crash. Could you please install some debugging packages [1] and reproduce the crash, if possible? Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the "details", now containing way more information. Please copy that stacktrace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks! [1] debugging packages for evolution, evolution-data-server and gtkhtml, plus debugging packages for some basic GNOME libs. More details can be found here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/DistroSpecificInstructions
I have installed the debugging packages, but I am not sure if I can reproduce the crash, as I just opened Evolution, it started to automatically fetch my email from my 2 pop-accounts, and then it suddenly crashed and bug-buddy popped up. If it happens again though, I will attach the (hopefully) more useful debugging stack trace to this bug.
I barely posted the previous command and Evolution crashed again when receiving mail (this time when I pressed the Receive mail button). Following is the stack trace pasted from bug-buddy (I removed my mail server from the trace for privacy reasons): Distribution: Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) Gnome Release: 2.16.1 2006-10-02 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.16.0 Memory status: size: 178958336 vsize: 0 resident: 178958336 share: 0 rss: 27303936 rss_rlim: 0 CPU usage: start_time: 1160843056 rtime: 0 utime: 298 stime: 0 cutime:276 cstime: 0 timeout: 22 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 0 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/evolution-2.8' Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1".
