Description Sven Herzberg 2006-10-07 18:55:47 UTC
If I enter search terms to the toolbar and press return (without selecting the search engine), I get an error message ("invalid address" or similar). Then the location of the current page gets overwritten over my search terms.

I need to switch to another tab and back to get the search terms visible.

Can someone tell me what's the function that actually _loads_ the url? I guess there's some kind of check or something about what mozilla says (yeah it loaded or no it didn't).
Based on this guess, it would be pretty simple to just add an if() or something.
Comment 3 Christian Persch 2006-10-10 11:17:38 UTC
The load function isn't involved in that... I guess we get a ge_location signal ?
Comment 4 Cyril Brulebois 2007-09-07 04:14:48 UTC
Diego, Christian: Want me to dig into this? I thought I couldn't reproduce it, but that was because I was using a blank tab. Using a tab where an URL is already loaded, I'm able to reproduce this by typing something like “site:foobar”.
Comment 5 Christian Persch 2007-09-07 22:15:05 UTC
I don't think this is a bug.

It is. I have multiple smart searches in epiphany and sometimes I select the wrong one by accident. Then I have to retype the whole search term (which can be quite long). This is annoying for the user and so I think it's a bug.

Typing random words in the location bar and pressing Enter performs a google search for me. Are you still seeing this bug?

Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer
version of epiphany 3.0.x, tia.
