GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 359909
[KB-Fixed] "New" Button too small
Last modified: 2009-08-30 05:53:22 UTC
I use the danish locale, and the "New" Button appears to scale according to the lenght of the string. This leads to it being horribly small, basically the same size the the dropdown arrow box attach to it and much smaller in comparison to the other toolbar buttons. I would wager this would be very bad for usability. Other information:
The same problem with the Swedish translation (New = Ny). It looks realy out of place.
Can you provide a screenshot?
I have not used Evolution in about 1 1/2 years now, instead I switched to gmail and I will not be able to get my hands on a Linux machine till after the 18th when I get back from Brazil to provide a screenshot.
Trying to think of a locale-agnostic way to fix this. What about requiring the button width be at least as large as the button height, so it's at least a square shape on the toolbar. Would that be wide enough?
we can try, the basic idea seems sound
Fixed on the kill-bonobo branch. I made sure the New toolbar button width is at least -twice- as wide as its height. Fixed in: http://git.gnome.org/cgit/evolution/commit/?h=kill-bonobo&id=452650a573432a6416f3f31ec0594b888a52b93f
The "kill-bonobo" branch has been merged into "master" and will debut as Evolution 2.29.1. We believe the branch has addressed the reported issue. If you find the issue still exists in version 2.29 or later please feel free to re-open this bug. Closing as FIXED.
