GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 358133
banshee eats lots of CPU when switching from iPod to Music Library
Last modified: 2006-11-27 07:50:31 UTC
Please describe the problem: I have imported my music library into Banshee (cca 6000 mp3 files) and then connected iPod. Banshee recognized the iPod so in the left column I switched to it and browsed the songs on it. After that I wanted to display my music library so I clicked on Music Library in the left columnt. I had to wait several minutes before it was displayed - Banshee ate a lot of CPU time in the process. Steps to reproduce: 1. import fairly large music library (who has thousends of songs nowadays ? just about everybody) 2. connect iPod 3. switch to iPod in the left column to display its contents 4. switch to Music Library in the left column to display its contents Actual results: it took couple of minutes to display Music Library contents, CPU was loaded in the process Expected results: it should be instantaneous Does this happen every time? yes Other information:
Does the iPod really have anything to do with it? Does the same thing not happen if you switch to a playlist, then switch back to the Library? Do you have Assistive Technologies turned on?
1. no 2. yes 3. no
Same problem here: when switching from my library to my daap share, it takes full CPU + a lot of time (at least 1 full minute) to display anything. It's not a network problem, Rhymthbox opens the share in a blink of an eye. So I guess there is a problem... I'm running Edgy's version.
I am seeing the same behavior (switching from anywhere to library temporarily freezes Banshee) in 0.11.2 on Ubuntu Feisty.
