Description Don Scorgie 2006-09-26 18:38:33 UTC
Don't know if this is a gedit thing or a gtk+ thing but...

When I want to open an existing file, I click "open" on the toolbar. The resulting Open file dialog opens correctly, but the text entry bar is automatically filled with the first file available in the current directory. To make matters worse, this filename is not selected.

This means, to open a file, I have to press ctrl-a before typing the filename I need. I haven't witnessed this behavior in other apps, so I suspect its something gedit is doing.

This is due to gtk+.

If you go the text entry with Ctrl+L the proposed file name is cleared.
Probably it should do the same when using the mouse.
