GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 355696
Right scrollpane in Yelp is not visible to GOK.
Last modified: 2006-11-27 10:28:00 UTC
Please describe the problem: This is an accessibility bug for yelp. The scrollbar is not accessible for GOK, GOK user could not grab the scrollbar in GOK. Steps to reproduce: 1. Enable assistive support on. 2. Invoke GOK and gnome yelp, say, invoke gedit, select top menu Help->Content. 3. In yelp window, select 'Getting Started' list item in left pane. 4. Select UI Grab in GOK main window, grab the scrollbar in right pane. Actual results: The scrollbar in right pane can not be grabbed in GOK. Expected results: The scrollbar should be grabbed in GOK. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information: The right scrollpane is not visible in at-poke either. This looks like this widget it not accessible at all. This bug can be found on gnome2.14.
Thanks for the bug report. We've had numerous problems with a11y in yelp since we switched to gecko (pretty well summed up in this bug report). In 2.14, a workaround was added to make the right pane accessible. Due to the way that at-poke works though, it doesn't pick this change up immediately, you have to re-poke yelp ~ 5 seconds after the page has finished loading. GOK should pick up the right pane though. The right scrollbar is actually a gecko construct. Do you see the same problem occurring in epiphany? If so, you should file a bug about this upstream at mozilla. Marking this as a duplicate of the "Great Accessibility Bug" of yelp. In that bug report, you can read all about the problems we've had and the current work-around. These problems will hopefully be resolved properly in gecko 1.9 (firefox 3.0). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 157941 ***
