If a window has a modal dialog, and the user tries to alt-tab to the window, we wisely set focus on the modal dialog instead.  However, we don't update the MRU list for the window, despite the fact that the user would expect that app to be first in the MRU list.

I'm going to mark this as blocking both 338660 and 164841.  It doesn't really block 338660, but it's an additional closely related issue that needs to be fixed up under the alt-tab umbrella of issues (and that bug almost seems more like a tracker...).  :)

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you can still reproduce this issue in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/metacity/-/issues/
