GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 354847
Duplicate/backup control
Last modified: 2006-09-08 18:51:42 UTC
I have two problems: I have some pictures in several locations (IN F-spot folder, some temporary folder and in some other folders) and I do not have many of my pictures packed up on any off-line medias. I was just wendering if it would be possible to solve both of these problems with some kind of duplicate and backup-controll feature. It would be really great if F-spot could find the duplicates, comparing names, sizes, dates, exif-data, even if possible the image information, and tell me which pictures I have more than one time. Then I could mark the ones, that are actual back-up files I will need, delete the ones I do not need and save the backupdata on the F-spot database. So I could see for all pictures where I have the back-up, for example: located also on CD 34 and USB disk 2. And it would be good to have some search options like search for not backed up pictures, or search for only CD backed up pictures, or search for pictures burned on the CD over 2 years ago. Maybe an automatic CD/DVD archive reminder that would give user a notice when a curtain backup is in a curtain age, so people who want to reburn their CD:s for example every 2 years would know the right time to do so. And it would be best if the user could have some priorities, for example Pictures tagget "pets" no backup Pictures tagget "family" backup on usbdisk Pictures tagget "work" backup on usbdisk + CD Pictures tagget with "important" triple backup
