Description Emma 2006-09-05 11:27:14 UTC
As we all know, the way GIMP displays images and tools is with a series of windows. However, I would like to propose a very good solution for this. It might have already been proposed in the past but it does not seem that it has because I have never seen/read the idea anywhere.

Anyway, my propsed method for elimiating user hastle in this area is by making it all a single window, with the main window as tools on the left, and the layers and etc as tools on the right. In the center would be the image display. New images would open up in tabs within the GIMP instead of in new windows. Kind of like how Inkscape is, but with tabs and the traditional borders for the image and etc. Also, making the toolbars floatable and giving the ability to hide them would make it all perfect.

Thanks for your time. ^_^

Hm, did you search for existing bugs? AFAIK similiar proposals have already been created.

The bug search thingie was either too non-specific or too specific. I figured someone had already brought it up, but was not sure how in-depth they went or if they offered a noteable method. Also, I have also not seen any movement toward an interface like this either.
