Trashapplet gives you a bad information about how many files are currently in the trash. Nautilus does this right. See attached picture for more details.

As you can see, Nautilus shows a correct amount of deleted files (3) but trashapplet shows a bad amount of deleted files (6). Both numbers are underlined red for being good-visible.

Hmm, I played with trashapplet a bit, and it looks like that the amount of deleted files shown by this applet is doubled.
