I found very useful evince for navigating between different documents using virtual desktops( better than Acrobat Reader because Acrobat open all docs in the same window :-( ) but is very slow to navigate in the same document.(a lot of clicks).

Adding bookmarks for different pages can make using evince a real pleasure!!
It could be done without renegating of simplicity.

I add an image to show what I mean.

This feature has been already requested in bug 169903. There is another mockup proposed by Bryan there. Let's discuss this in such a bug.
