GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 352758
Add better error message for cdrdao permission denied
Last modified: 2009-07-29 10:47:49 UTC
I launched this, and got an "unknown error": $ nautilus-cd-burner --source-device=/dev/hda launching command: cdrdao read-cd --read-raw --datafile /home/data/image.iso.SLxmuW --device /dev/hda -v 2 /home/data/image.iso.SLxmuW.toc cdrdao stderr: Cdrdao version 1.2.1 - (C) Andreas Mueller <andreas@daneb.de> cdrdao stderr: SCSI interface library - (C) Joerg Schilling cdrdao stderr: Paranoia DAE library - (C) Monty cdrdao stderr: cdrdao stderr: Check http://cdrdao.sourceforge.net/drives.html#dt for current driver tables. cdrdao stderr: cdrdao stderr: Using libscg version 'schily-0.8' cdrdao stderr: cdrdao stderr: /dev/hda: SONY DVD+-RW DW-Q58A Rev: UDS2 cdrdao stderr: Using driver: Generic SCSI-3/MMC - Version 2.0 (options 0x0000) cdrdao stderr: cdrdao stderr: ?: Operation not permitted. Cannot send SCSI cmd via ioctl cdrdao stderr: HUP Would it be possible to make the error message better?
cdrdao is no longer maintained sice 3 years. In addition, cdrdao is based on a very outdated libscg version. On the other side, cdrtools are actively maintained. Try to use cdrtools: ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/
nautilus-cd-burner has been replaced by Brasero in the GNOME 2.26 release. If your bug still applies to Brasero, please feel free to re-open the bug, and reassign it to brasero itself.
