Description Lynn Monsanto 2006-08-23 23:30:19 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Orca speaks top-level menus but does not speak NetBeans menu items. Tracing indicates no events are received by Orca when a NetBeans menu item is selected.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Run NetBeans
2. Run Orca
3. Hit F10 and arrow down the Files menu.

Actual results:
Silence

Expected results:
Orca should speak the menu items as they are selected.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Hi Lynn: Can you confirm that there are no events being sent at all by NetBeans? If so, this sounds like an AT-SPI implementation bug, either in Swing or NetBeans.
Comment 2 Rich Burridge 2006-08-25 00:51:22 UTC
Could NetBeans be using it's own JVM where the Java
Access bridge isn't installed?
Comment 3 Lynn Monsanto 2006-09-08 22:09:43 UTC
Confirmed this is an AT-SPI implementation bug.
Comment 4 Willie Walker 2006-09-12 22:32:08 UTC
Thanks Lynn - please file an AT-SPI bug on the appropriate component and mark this one as being blocked on it. When you do so, please also prefix the subject of this bug with the string "[blocked]" as is the convention we've adopted for other blockers.

This is a duplicate of bug 353532. Both involve Java popup menus where Orca is not receiving the popup menu events. The workaround for 353532 is also a workaround for this bug.
