GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 350758
Nautilus crashes after browsing some folders
Last modified: 2007-09-14 11:19:39 UTC
Open nautilus from location menu, then browse some folders with lots of pictures or videos, then close nautilus and open it again at once, many many error dialogs pops up with the message: Nautilus can not be used now due to unexpected errors, the detail information is unexpected bonobo error occured, nautilus can be used now, to solve this problem try to kill bonobo-activation-server and restart nautilus. Firstly I think this is caused by the preview components for nautilus, but after I disable the preview function in preference dialog, this error still exists. I try to start nautilus from terminal with strace, but no useful information can get and the error dialog still pops up one by one. This is a critical bug that must be fixed before 2.16 releasedd
Thanks for the bug report. Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it. Can you provide us with one? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so.

Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, that stack trace is not very useful in determining the cause of the crash. Can you get us one with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. please install liboobs /system tools debugging libraries

is still very vague, anyone able to get a nice stacktrace with line numbers/symbols by installing the nautilus-devel/-dbg package? thanks in advance.

Hum, a question: why the product assigned is gnome-system-tools if the crash occurs on Nautilus? I didn't any information which explain that.

O.Tuschhoff, you're my man! thanks so much! :-) so liboobs crashes in line 103: 102 : g_critical (priv->dbus_error.message); 103 : g_assert_not_reached (); I know that this bug report is actually irrelevant to Gnome 2.16, because liboobs is not part of the official 2.16 release (using gnome-system-tools 2.14.x instead). Anyway, this is stealing much time of the bugsquad so i'd like to see this fixed as soon as possible. Carlos?
carlos, also see bug 352418. tia
Fixed in CVS. I just needed the critical error clue
