Description Andreas Proschofsky 2006-07-20 08:34:15 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When using the new vertical view the displayed headers (= the left column) is not respecting the font settings, it seems to always use the fixed width font, this is in contrary to what the classic view is doing

This is with evolution 2.7.4

Steps to reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?

it does not use the fixed font, fixed font is only used for the subject, and this is done by purpose for easier reading - anyway, i don't understand the issue here. you want a variable width font for all text, or what? :-)

Yeah, subject is what I meant by saying header (I know that's a little bit unclear, that's why I add "left column" ;) )

Anyway: A fixed font is only used in the vertical view, in the "classic" view it uses the "normal" system font, if that's by intent, just close this bug. Still I think this is quite misleading, especially as you can set the Fixed Width font to something else in the Mailer Preferences (which is not respected here, contrary to the "normal view). Hmmm, if I think about it, maybe the last thing is the real bug, that the vertical view is not respecting the fixed font-setting of the Mail Preferences...

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you are trying to say here. Do you mean, that the font in vertical and horizontal view should be the same? Cause if you want I can provide screenshots that they aren't ;)

Suka, I meant it is not supposed to behave like this. Atleast I dont see this at all.

Picture to demonstrate the problem

As you can see, in the upper half (vertical view) it is using the fixed width font, while in the "classic view" it's using the "Standard font". Normally the fixed width font is also used for the message preview window, but you can override this in the settings (which I do as you can see from the screenshot).

So if you think that using the fixed width font instead of the Standard font for the vertical view is a better choice, it should at least respect the settings in Mail Preferences > General
Comment 8 Srinivasa Ragavan 2006-07-28 07:34:28 UTC
OK OK. I got the problem now. I was thinking of preview pane. This is intended to differentiate the FROM... and SUBJECT... fields in the two row. It was done purposefully to easily identify the FROM from SUBJECT. In the class view they are different columns so this issue wont arise. Im closing this as INVALID. Please feel free open if you have any points.

Thanks for your efforts.
