when I import the OFX conciliation from my bank (Desjardins). The spaces are missing from the description. Everything else seems to be fine.. The spaces are regular ascii spaces in the file and the file is pure ascii.

This is a known bug fixed in r14494 on the trunk.
We need to backport that and then it will appear in GnuCash 2.0.1, hopefully.

This concerns also HBCI statement download and OFX-DirectConnect statement download. That means, unfortunately this bug screwed up the feature most advertised in the 2.0.0 announcement. We should ship a 2.0.1 really really soon where this is fixed.

@Olivier: As a quick workaround you can make the change from  http://svn.gnucash.org/trac/changeset/14494 in your tarball yourself: Edit the file src/core-utils/gnc-glib-utils.c and change line 113 as shown in that webpage.
