GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 347208
random, hard to restart, crashes
Last modified: 2006-09-15 21:16:10 UTC
Steps to reproduce: From: <> To: submit@bugs.gnome.org X-Mailer: bug-buddy 2.14.0 Subject: evolution crashes unpredictably Distribution: Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper) Package: Evolution Severity: critical Version: GNOME2.14.2 2.6.x Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu Synopsis: evolution crashes unpredictably Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Mailer Bugzilla-Version: 2.6.x Description: Description of Problem: While navigating emails occasionally evolution just freezes. The window is not refreshed, there is nothing unusual in gnome-system-manager. The evolution process shows stopped, Resident memory is 42.9MiB, CPU=0%, Nice=0, ID= 5673, arguments (none) /usr/bin/evolution. Force quit and restart doesn't work, it just refuses to start. Restarting X and logging in again, still won't start. Have to restart machine for evolution to run. This has now happened about 6/7 times in 12 hours. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. All I was doing was browsing and reading emails, this has also happened while I have been composing a reply. The unfinished reply has always been recovered successfully3. Actual Results: Evolution crashes, slows PC down and won't restart. Expected Results: How often does this happen? 6-7 times in 12 hours Additional Information: see gdb output below and valgrind output attached. Actually, it's not because Bugbuddy dropped it when I saved for sending later... Valgrind output is in 'other information' Stack trace: duncan@duncan-laptop:~$ gdb evolution GNU gdb 6.4-debian Copyright 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
