Most other major music applications do this. Rhythmbox would order these artists like this:

Abba
David Bowie
The Clash

Where as most others would order it like

Abba
The Clash
David Bowie.

In this case, the 'the' does not affect the alphabetical sorting order.

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.


This is made much more difficult because it causes problems with languages other than English. The issues have been discussed on bug 133444.
