GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 346318
"new" button displays beginning of the .po file instead of "new" string
Last modified: 2009-07-27 12:01:08 UTC
a weird bug, i know. start gnome-ui-properties. choose text below symbols. start evolution. choose text next to symbols. choose symbols only. see the beginning of the po file next to the new symbols within the button. same happens with fr_FR.utf8 and fa_IR.utf8. restart evo, this does not happen anymore and its disaplyed correctly (symbols only). does not happen with en_EN.utf8. running the guadec holiday version here (means: havent checked out 2.7.3 from cvs for a week).
reassigning to srini.

I can confirm this bugs almost on 2.8.0 2.8.1 in debian.
confirming as per last comment.
(In reply to comment #4) > I can confirm this bugs almost on 2.8.0 2.8.1 in debian. Your bug is the same as bug #363645 (ie. a slightly different one). I believe this problem is a similar one, with Evolution, or another library, trying to set the button string to "", thus getting the pot file header.
yepp...this only happens with "only symbols", because the string displayed will be set to an empty "", so it only displays the beginning of the po file. same as bug 363645, thanks for the nice afternoon with hadess in #evolution to find this out :-)
Seems to work fine here in 2.27.4 with fr_FR.utf8. Could you please confirm if this bug is still happening at your end ? Please try in 2.24.x / 2.26.x and report back, thanks.
Cannot reproduce anymore in 2.24.5
