GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 346133
ldap addressbooks should support kerberos authentication
Last modified: 2021-05-19 11:46:05 UTC
Distribution: Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper) Package: Evolution Severity: enhancement Version: GNOME2.14.2 unspecified Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu Synopsis: ldap addressbooks should support kerberos authentication Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Contacts [was: Addressbook] Bugzilla-Version: unspecified Description: If the LDAP addressbook could use Kereberos authentication, I could connect to my companies Exchange server's Active directory's LDAP interface. They are not likely to open it up to anonymous or simple authentication. I can connect to the address book using the Exchange plugin, so this isn't the most crucial thing in the world. It would, however, become a nice feature. ------- Bug created by bug-buddy at 2006-06-28 18:20 -------
Hi Marques, thanks for taking the time to report this. Do you think this is a duplicate of bug 316237?
The 316237 is a little more generic. If kerberos support was added for handling imap, ldap, and http authentication, then both this feature request and 316237 would be fulfilled.
Well, there might be other types of ldap servers (non-exchange ones). (For example, CMU has an ldap which could be used; however, CMU's one is open so this isn't an issue).

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new enhancement request ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
