Description Tom Joseph 2006-06-23 02:07:54 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When the Gnome application font is set to something large with hinting turned off, GnuCash miscalculates how wide the rightmost column in a register view should be. There is no way to resize it that I can see - no rightmost handle on that column, and moving the left handle resizes the column second from the right.

I would have classified this as a cosmetic bug, but this bug makes it look like GnuCash has munged the user's data, and so I consider it more serious. User should not have to choose a smaller systemwide font to make data appear correctly. Also it would be nice to be able to resize that column.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to Gnome's font preferences, make sure font antialiasing is on and hinting is off. Choose a wide font and size like (Bitstream Vera) Serif 12.
2. Have a balance of greater than 9999.99 in Accounts Payable.
3. Note how the leftmost digit is cut off in the Balance column.

Actual results:
Number is not completely displayed.

Expected results:
Column sizes itself to display entire number.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Ok, The column is too small for me too, I cannot see right "border". But I do not need to change any font parameters therefor... ;-)

Did you try to double-click the header "Balance"?

The same happens with Mutual Funds too, a one-liner. I have not tested more account types yet.

Perfectly possible that devs decide not to patch this one, as the register is going to be rewritten anyway.

Still a problem with the more recent 2.2.x versions?
