Description Ajay Gautam 2006-06-15 20:07:40 UTC
User should have option to match case for search.

How hard would it be to actually have "Search for files" be a UI for "find"?

Thanks

Ajay

Actually on gnome 3.2, I don't know how to do 'ignorecase' search. If there is a folder "Downloads" searching for "downloads" do not get the result but "Downloads" succeeds.

Is there an option to do ignore-case search?

I'd say it should ignore case by default, and maybe add an option to match case.

I don't think case-sensitiveness is necessary at all. In what situation is it relevant to leave out search results that, say, are capitalized?

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
