Description Sven Arvidsson 2006-06-11 15:30:54 UTC
Epiphany seems to have a problem downloading files after viewing them in the browser.

For example after viewing one of the Ogg streams [0] with the Totem plugin, pressing back and trying to use "Download Link" only a small part of the file is downloaded. "Save Link As" usually seems to work, but on occasions this did not work at all.

This is not limited to streams or the Totem plugin, I have seen this with other types of files also.

Is this reproducible in epiphany 2.16 (or 2.14 and using gecko 1.8 [firefox 1.5/xulrunner 1.8] backend) ?
Comment 2 Sven Arvidsson 2006-09-12 13:56:33 UTC
Yes, I'm on Debian unstable and this still happens with version 1.8.0.5 of libxul and epiphany 2.14.3.

Still here in Epiphany 2.20.0 and xulrunner 1.8.1.6.

Marking NEW because of the multiple reports.
Comment 7 Jean-François Fortin Tam 2007-09-26 20:06:33 UTC
Copy-pasting what I wrote in my bug report initially:
"My best guess here is that epiphany wrongly assumes that I already loaded that
file in the cache fully (since it is present in the cache), and assumes it can
simply copy it over from the cache to the desktop, which is instantaneous.

I can see the good in that idea, but it either needs to check for file
completion, or it needs to download the file from scratch (yes, it's ugly, but
other than that, you get *data corruption*!)"

Did I guess correctly, or is it an entirely different problem?
Comment 8 Jean-François Fortin Tam 2012-10-08 02:19:35 UTC
Not a problem with 3.4 anymore, at least not with webm files.
