GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 344021
Can't edit URL in address bar without loading the web page first
Last modified: 2006-06-08 07:05:01 UTC
The problem is this: sometimes I mispell an URL (which can happen quite frequently since most URLs are quite complciated to type) and thus epiphany tries to load the page on a wrong location, giving me an error or at least not the page I want. To correct this with most other browsers, I just type a small part of the URL to get the wrong URL back from the history entries shown in the address bar, then I select the mispelled URL and I edit it. This is impossible in ephinay, since when you select an URL in the history entries there is no possibilities to edit since it doesn't fill in the address bar textbox. I have to force loading of the URL for that. But, since the URL is wrong, the mispelled is often replace by some obscure redirection. And even if it isn't, I would like to correct the URL before being forced to load a wrong page (it's frustrating adn counter-intuitive to be obliged to commit an error). Note that it does not limit itself to mispelled URLs: I often like to use already present URLs in the history entries to change them a little, and not being force to write the full URL. That's really convenient. Other information:
