GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 343672
open new windows in the same directory (browsing mode)
Last modified: 2016-11-26 15:53:33 UTC
Ctrl-n in browsing mode should open new window displaying the very same directory as the parent window shows (just like in MacOS X), not Home. Other information:
Agreed. It is easy to get to the home directory from anywhere - just hit Control+Home or click on the Home button. But it is harder to get to the specific directory where you were.

Epiphany also opens about:blank when opening a new window. CCing usability team.
Simply Ctrl-click on your current location in the pathbar and a new window will pop up at the same location.
Makes sense, consistent with ctrl+t opening a new tab in the currently visited folder
