Description robert.h.fletcher 2006-06-01 16:21:58 UTC
I am very new to *nix and realize there is much I do not understand.
One of the most annoying is that when I open, say, File Browser, from my home directory, I do not see any convenient mechanism to change status to su -.
(This capability may be there, but I can't find it.) For example, I may want to change some /etc/xxx.conf file, but when I open it with gedit, it is read-only.
Something similar to the method used by yumex which asks for the root password would be handy. Sorry if this already exists or if it is just plain stupid for some reason.
