Description Alexander Shopov 2006-05-22 08:37:46 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I am using Totem to play an mp3 file. The video window has many artifacts during
window interaction.

Steps to reproduce:
1. In preferences - set to show video effects during audio playback. Chose Goom
- What a goom.
2. Open a mp3 file with Totem.
3. Try some fun with the window elements -menus, sliders, bars.

Actual results:
There are a lot of artifacts.

Expected results:
Not that many artifacts.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
I am attaching a byzanz gif screen capture.

Notice that the covering with gnome-terminal forces a redraw of the video window and artifacts are gone.

I am very sorry - part of the information is not correct!
What is set in preferences is a visual effect to be shown, but no visual effect has been chosen.
This happened on a FedoraCore5 box with an up to date Totem - if this happens to be a configuration problem.
The ~/.gconf/apps/totem/%gconf.xml contains:

<gconf>

</gconf>

So show_vfx is set to yes, but no effect is showing. If I set the effect to Goom actually - the problem goes away.

Are you using the GStreamer or xine-lib backend?
Comment 4 Alexander Shopov 2006-05-22 16:31:47 UTC
Definately gstreamer.
ldd /usr/bin/totrm shows gstreamer
xine is not installed at all.
