An equalizer would be cool. You could associate genre (from ID3 tags) with
particular settings as an option (maybe just a checkbox right by it as you seem
to have made a decision not to have much configuration). From what I hear
toolbars are the new UI thing in rhythmbox so it could be implemented

This is one of the oldest outstanding feature requests for rhythmbox.
