gnome-terminal crashes instead of creating a new profile

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. File->create profile
2. enter a new profile name and press Create
3. a dialog appears to inform that the application has crashed

Expected Results:
get a new profile created?

How often does this happen?
always, at the moment, but this may or may not depend on settings in the
configuration.
Since gnome-terminal also displays the wrong font (i.e. not the one it
used to), there's a strong indication
that some configuration file may be broken
