Version: GNOME2.14.1 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu
Synopsis: OSS mixer element choice for keyboard shortcuts
Bugzilla-Product: control-center
Bugzilla-Component: settings-daemon

Description:
Please describe your feature request:
It would be great to be able to choose the mixer element to use for
muting, raising and lowering volume. This is actually hardcoded into
the daemon which is bad. :/

I second this request. Because of commonly mentioned "confusions in the AC97 specification", what appears as "Master Volume" isn't always that. For example, a Dell Inspiron 9100 uses "Headphone" to control the main speakers, along with "Mono" to control the subwoofer. The ability to select the mixer channel would allow the user to control one of the channels that actually controls volume.
