Description Simon Law 2006-04-28 21:20:50 UTC
The Computer folder shows the various volumes that you can browse.

If you opt to "Rename" or "Make Link" any of them, it pops up a dialog box
saying you cannot.

It is more usable if either
a) These commands were supported, or
b) These commands were grayed out in the Menu Bar and in the Context Menu.

"Devices in computer can be cut, copied, moved to wastebasket and deleted

Select Places/Computer from the menu and Nautilus displays the devices connected to the computer. If you right click on a device then a context menu is displayed. It is strange that there are copy and cut items in the context menu. What does it mean to copy my CDROM drive? I thought perhaps it would copy all files on the CDROM but this does not seem to be the case. Cut just displays an error message if selected (Operation not permitted). Likewise there is "Move to wastebasket" and "Delete" menu items which also display error messages when selected.

These menu items don't make sense and should not be in the context menu I think (the context menu should be for operations that are performed often and make sense in the context of what is selected)."

I second this one. I have a mp3-stick and a camera which mount as "disk" and "disk-1". I'd like to relabel them 'Camera' and 'MP3_Player'. Both use FAT. I don't want to use Windows for that...
