Description Lars Schöning 2006-04-27 21:09:33 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I am not too sure whether this is a problem with nautillus or the client
applications I saw the problem with:

A while ago put a bookmark to a remote ( password protected ) ftp location in
nautillus. From that point on a safe dialog in any application using the gnome
standard save dialog would request the keyring password before enabling me to
safe the file as usual ( which was quite annoying to say the least ). I
eventually figured out that it seemed to be due to that bookmark I placed,
removing the bookmark fixed the problem.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make a bookmark to any password protected ftp ( or possibly any other )
network resource
2. The next time you log on a safe dialog will request keyring access even
without you trying to safe to that network resource

Actual results:
Safe dialog requires keyring access, canceling does not work ( sometimes
crashes, otherwise repeats asking - in fact saving without keyring access is
made impossible )

Expected results:
Only when attempting to safe to that location keyring access should be demanded.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

This happens for me as well. GNOME 2.14.1 (FC5). It is not just FTP sites, SSH booksmarks cause the same problems.

Because of this behavior I avoid making use of the bookmark features. The constant password prompts are just too annoying.

This problem may actually be in gnome-vfs not Nautilus.
