Description Baris Cicek 2006-04-26 12:26:15 UTC
As freecell has dozens of games, it's had to remember the game you played previously. Different people must have different tastes of the freecell games, and play them by default. It would be really good if freecell store the last played game, or have a feature like adding some games to favourite games. So that in future you can choose from your favourite games instead of choosing from dozens. For resolving this bug, a better game browser might be implemented. A dialog representing my idea is attached. Of course this is just to give some idea.

I think you've been confused by the fact that there are normally two shortcuts installed to aisleriot. If you start it as "AisleRiot Solitaire", it remembers the last game you played. If you start it as "FreeCell Solitaire", it always starts with Freecell.

I think Freecell used to be a separate program and has since become a part of Aisleriot.

Yes you're definately right. Though I still think more improved game browser would be more user friendly, but for AisleRiot not Freecell.

Just a final word as the person who wrote the current behaviour:

The Freecell icon always launches Freecell, the generic solitaire (Aisleriot) icon always launches the last solitaire game played. Obviously that makes sense when I phrase it that way. However, there is another reason: if someone played aisleriot first and changed the game - to perhaps Seahaven - then if Freecell started and loaded the last saved game it would load Seahaven, regardless of whether the Freecell icon had ever been used before. That would be truly confusing.

As for the choose a game dialog: there are two major changes I am planning to implement: categorisation and descriptions. The screenshots would be nice, but are a lot harder to generate.

This bug is being reassigned to the "general" component so we can close the aisleriot bugzilla component. Apologies for the mass email!
