Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-04-24 12:06:39 UTC
That bug has been described on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/39086

"Evolution (2.6.1, dapper) won't allow me to add a new address book. Select "New Address Book", enter a name for it. The "OK" button stays disabled. Can't find any workaround.

I just managed to work around the problem by disabling the plugin "Exchange Operations" under "Edit" -> "Plugins". Now I can add address book again; strange...
...
Seems that we've got a winner: disabling "Exchange Operations" solves the problem.

The issue happens when using the exchange plugin for everybody it looks like

Confirming.

Had this very issue with a FC5 user, Evo 2.6.1. Same problem description (not enabled OK button) when creating new Address Books, same solution (disable the Exchange plugin).

Urgent, critical, usability issue (or lack thereof ;)

*sigh* Can't reproduce this myself. Even after enabling Exchange Operations and forcing a shutdown, Evo still does not refuse to create new Address Books for me.

What are the differences?

* I do have a bunch of plugins disabled, manually. Interaction between multiple
  plugins?
* I do have a default Address Book (see the Address Books Properties), set
*manually* due to anoher bug. Most users likely do not have any Address Book
  set as default.
* I do have multiple local Address Books as well as an LDAP one. The guy on IRC
I mentioned earlier did not have any Address Book but the Personal one.
* I neither do use Ubuntu nor FC5, but a GARNOME built version. Hmm, I actually
am using 2.6.0 at the moment, not 2.6.1 -- maybe this was introduced in 2.6.1
  only??

Do all these users who are affected have some things in common, like the ones I mentioned above? Sebastien?
