Description lothalev 2006-04-18 22:17:17 UTC
The rectangular selection tool and Image->Set canvas size could have an option
to switch into constrained mode - great for photography.
The main constrain would be the aspect ratio, with choices of 4:3, 16:9 and
typical analogue photography ratios.

Please have a look at bug 156858 and bug 166933, IMO your report is a duplicate of one of them.
Comment 2 Sven Neumann 2006-04-19 10:15:56 UTC
In the development version, the crop tool is derived from the same base class as the rectangular selection tool so both could share the same aspect ratio code. Thus this report could be closed as a duplicate of bug #156858. But perhaps we should come up with a more generic report and close all other bug reports as a duplicate of this one.

I agree with some proposals from the 156858 bug. Actually I didn't think about an aspect ratio list, but that could be a nice feature. Maybe this bug can be set as a duplicate of 156858, to work on it in one place?
