Please describe the problem:
When I browse through the directories I only see for each file, not directory, a
little icon (white page, the one you use for create document usually). I can
only import the whole directory, but I can't select files.

I think this should be an enhancement bug, since F-Spot has been designed to import folders, and mainly from camera and its associated memory disks.

Also, the duplicate patch should help a lot in this for the moment.
