Description Lucas Nussbaum 2006-04-07 08:28:53 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When unmounting removable media (USB key for example) via the context menu in
the File Browser, the icon disapear immediately. However, some transfers might
still be in progress (using "watch mount", you see the device is still mounted).

If the device is removed too early, this can lead to data loss, since all data
may not have been written to the USB key.

Steps to reproduce:
1. copy a large amount of data to an USB key
2. when the copy finishes, unmount the media
3. run "watch mount" to see that the data is still being transfered (the device
is still mounted)

If somebody had removed the device between (2) and (3), data would have been lost.

Actual results:
If I remove the key before (3), a "Unable to eject media" dialog appears,
mentionning that it was "unable to find or open device for: '/dev:sda1'".

If I plug the key back and compare the files I transfered using diff, they are
not the same as the original files.

Expected results:
I should be informed that data is still being transfered to the media.

Does this happen every time?
Yes
