GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 337056
new mail notification re-occurs when moving mail out of inbox to subfolder
Last modified: 2006-04-03 22:22:31 UTC
I specified a wave file to be played when there is new mail. This works (when I have esd running, which wasn't easy to find out on a non-GNOME system, and which keeps making problems when suspending the machine) - but the new mail notification sound is also triggered when I move a (read) message out of my Inbox into a subfolder of "Inbox", which is annoying, especially when you're moving several mails in a short time. Suggestion: no new mail notification sound when moving mails out some folder - that is, evolution should distinguish between mails incoming from the mail server and mails moved manually by the user. Or, better yet, you should be able to set a sound specifically for a folder. Combined with filters, you could have a special sound if your girlfriend writes something (and that mail is put in the folder "sweetheart"), a different sound if your boss writes something (and that mail is put in the folder "nuisances"), and no sound when a mail of a Debian mailinglist comes into the mailinglist folder (which occurs quite often). Keep up the good work, Viktor. Other information:
