Better error messages anyone?
Comment 3 Corey Burger 2006-03-30 08:12:46 UTC
Is there a good way I can get better error messages? I run across videos that fail about once week or so and would love to be more helpful in this.
Comment 4 Tim-Philipp Müller 2006-03-30 08:33:30 UTC
Corey: I think he was refering to the GStreamer backend, not you :)

Bastien: the "Totem could not play 'fd://0'" message is created by totem, not by the backend or GStreamer, isn't it?

Not sure why this happens though, opening
  http://raincloud.warnerbros.com/wbmovies/vforvendetta/v_for_vendetta-tlr2_h.320.mov

directly in totem seems to work fine, I only get the error with the mozilla viewer. Maybe the playlist parser doesn't pick up on

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<?quicktime type="application/x-quicktime-media-link"?>
<embed
    src="http://pdl.warnerbros.com/wbmovies/vforvendetta/v_for_vendetta-tlr2_h.320.mov"
    />

for some reason (as that link rather than the redirection target gets passed to the backend apparently).
Comment 5 Corey Burger 2006-03-30 08:35:58 UTC
I was wondering if there are better triage guidelines for totem mozilla plugin bugs beyond reporting the url.
Comment 6 Bastien Nocera 2006-03-30 08:41:34 UTC
No reporting the URLs and the messages you see is fine. Most of the bugs are known (ie. dupes), just need to fix them :/

The quicktime metalink support is already in CVS, just that the Totem moz plugin doesn't handle playlists.
