Description Maxime 2006-03-29 12:04:28 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I am seeing 100% cpu usage from zenity while using the progress bar (with
--pulsate or --percentage options, same result).

Steps to reproduce:
1. In a shell for exemple
2. locate lib | zenity --progress --pulsate
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
After some research on the web I could see several people having the same issue.
Comment 1 Maxime 2006-03-29 12:07:08 UTC
Verified with the command "top".
Comment 2 Lucas Rocha 2006-05-10 03:54:25 UTC
This high CPU usage is being caused by the locate command, not zenity. If you use zenity progress dialog with a lighter command, no excessive CPU usage happens. This is not a bug.
Comment 3 Maxime 2006-05-10 10:02:22 UTC
Thanks for your reply.

But if I
use zenity progress dialog with a lighter command, the result is the same.

And "top" shows it is the "zenity" process, not "locate" or else.

Comment #3 is right; I get 100% CPU even with "zenity --progress </dev/null". Someone please reopen the bug. See also bug 540489.
