GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 335868
GNOME screensaver has no grace period on needing a password to unlock
Last modified: 2006-03-25 17:48:24 UTC
That the screensaver start and run for some number of mintues (preferably a number that can be specified) before requiring a password for the desktop to come back. Other information: This is a very helpful feature as I have a couple of computers, and am often sitting at my desk using one computer and don't want to always have to be going over to the other to enter a password. This way I can notice that the other computer thinks I'm idle and wiggle the mouse or something before it decides I have to enter a password.
Thanks for the bug report. Actually, I have the same situation. One reason why we do such a long slow fade-out is so you'll have a chance to go and wiggle the mouse before it locks. Is this not working for you? If you really need a delay between blanking and locking then you can set the lock_delay gconf key to non-zero. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 309142 ***
Wheee, editing the registry to get the functionality you want! Well, the Mac does the same thing for some stuff. Still, it somehow seems disappointing to not have some sort of GUI thing for _all_ the configuration options. Thanks for your helpful and polite response.
