GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 335817
Search using the SOUNDEX algorithm
Last modified: 2006-04-17 17:02:02 UTC
In past versions of gdict it's been possible to search using the SOUNDEX algorithm for "sound-alikes". I can't seem to find how to enable this in the 2.14 version of gdict, has this feature been hidden in the advanced settings dialog which doesn't contain any help? If it has or even worse, if it's been removed, please bring back this feature. It's a killer for finding the correct spelling of a word that you are not entirely sure how it's spelled.
the dictionary was completely re-written. the "speller" widget has been removed as it didn't make it in time for the 2.14 release. it'll be added in the 2.15 cycle, and then you'll be able to search for words matching some text. if you want to speed things up, I'll more than gladly accept patches for libgdict
