Description dave rodgman 2006-03-23 14:51:31 UTC
when the window is maximised, the columns do not expand to take advantage of
extra space. similarly they do not shrink to fit when window size is reduced.

ideal behaviour (perhaps):

- columns should resize with window, with sensible minimum, and no greater than
needed to display the longest piece of text in the column
- as window shrinks right down, lower priority columns should disappear (i.e.,
allow user to set column *priority*, not 'which columns are displayed')

this would be very slick

Moving to the User Interface component.

I'm not so sure if this is even possible, let alone if it's necessary. It might be slick from a programmer's POV, but from a usability POV it'd be nuts. What if I had all my columns enabled, and resized the window really small? I wouldn't be able to see anything as the columns would all be tiny :)

Not to mention the fact that this would be digging into the depths of gtk and making things overly complex :)
