Description Steve Frécinaux 2006-03-16 10:21:35 UTC
The location bar should be focused when creating a new empty tab, to allow one
to type the destination url immediately.

Currently when I want to browse a new website, I have to do Ctrl+T to open a new
tab, to hit Ctrl+L to focus the location bar and then to write the URL. I'd like
to avoid the second accelerator...

Seems like a dupe of 105153. Basically - you need to have a blank home page, otherwise the loaded page will get the focus. Read more in that bug, and feel free to add your thoughts there.

Sorry for the dup but this behaviour is all but obvious... I can hardly imagine someone wanting to see the same page again and again everytime he opens a new tab. Anyway, thank you for the trick ;-)

Don't know why it is so. Look through the other bug if you want to know, and perhaps add your thoughts there.

For clarity, the issue here is if the home page is a search engine, where you really do want the focus in the web page rather than the location entry.
