Description Jean-François Fortin Tam 2006-03-15 01:06:49 UTC
In link with bug #333957

I just realized we should do the same thing in the reverse way too :) When there is ONLY an object in the page (such as an image), please remove any contextual menu elements that are not related to images.

For example, opening an url like this http://planets.shacknet.nu/images/mercurymaps/mercurymap.jpg shows the image in the window. When you right click it, you have the "open image", "save image as", etc, which is correct.

However, you still have the "save as", "add bookmark" items just a little bit up the separator. Please remove them.

Also, just a question here: what is "open image" for? I mean, it's already displayed, how is "opening" it any different?

Hey Jeff :)

I most argue that sometimes if you open an image directly you might want to bookmark it so you can show it to your friends later, not excentric or non image exclusive.
The Save As option is kind of repetitive since you already have a Save Image As.

The Open Image is there so you can open the image with your image manager (by default Eye of Gnome, is there a way to customize this?), so you can edit it and then save it or just use zoom features.
I think it should say 'Open with Image Manager' or something more explicit to establish the difference between the currently open view and the one you can get with that menu entry.

Please share your thoughts about this $epiphany_guys

Hello Diego!

Just to say I agree with everything you just said. Basically, allowing bookmarking is okay, but the "Save As..." should go, and I think it would be good to rename "Open Image" to "Open with Image Manager", as you suggested.

And I guess that "Open with Image Manager" opens with the default image manager, that means that if you change the "open with" actions in an image mimetype's properties, it would most likely change the app that opens the image when requested by epiphany.

This has gone away with the patch we committed in bug #332968.
Re-adding the "Add bookmark" item (as suggested in the other bug) should fix this too, so I'm attaching a patch to bug #332968 and closing this as a duplicate. Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.
